HSIS Early Years Supporting children who have English as an additional language

18/06/2024 09:30 - 12:30

Level: All

Some children are fortunate to grow up learning more than one language. A child’s first language needs to be reflected in settings to ensure that family experiences are being reinforced and valued. A feeling of belonging contributes to a sense of worth and language is crucial in both.

This training examines the importance of celebrating children’s individual language development and how their needs can be met through offering a range of play and learning opportunities. It outlines best practice, resources, routines, activities and experiences that can be provided to support children and work in partnership with their parents.
