HSIS Assessment - Peer Support for KS2 Writing Moderation

Year 6 teachers are invited to bring selected collections of children’s written work for peer moderation using the Teacher Assessment Framework for writing.
This event provides an opportunity for Year 6 teachers, from schools where a moderation visit was not made in June this year, to come together to take part in a moderation activity in order to maintain their knowledge of the standards.
The purpose of moderation is to support the process of making accurate, rigorous assessments. As moderation visits are made to around 25% of schools each June, there may be a considerable span of time between each school’s visit and the next one.
Teachers will select and bring collections of pupils’ written work for moderation. The work brought for moderation should represent the range of outcomes for the class and will typically include one example of each standard: WTS, EXS and GDS.
Colleagues are welcome to bring additional work samples where they would find it helpful to discuss these examples with others.
